"My husband had decided to take my daughter and I on a little trip for Valentine’s day, so we need to find a place for our dogs to go. This was not easy on my daughter and I as we take them everywhere we go, so I called around looking for a place to take them, I found a few but when I cal FDR, they were so nice to me. The three of us went in toured the place and really liked it...upon leaving our dogs I cried, but the staff called me and let me know how they were doing. They called us every day and were there when we picked them up; I would never leave our dogs anywhere else. When they can't go with us they will have their own doggie vacation there. Thank you so much FDR for taking such wonderful care of my babies."

I was also impressed with how clean and quiet they keep the place. Yes I could save a couple of bucks, by taking Gracie to the familiar Rancho Cordova boarding facility, but knowing now that my dog is going to enjoy her stay so much more at the Folsom Dog Resort, I feel I have no choice in the matter. "How could you leave your dog anywhere else? I was recently given a tour of the Folsom Dog Resort and was amazed at how clean the whole facility is. And the trainers and staff give each dog an agenda for play, diet, and rest. So dogs get a lot of attention there. It's so different from the boarding facility at the vet I'd left my dog at before. At the vet, I'm not even sure my dog got let out of the cage for more than a bathroom break. At Folsom Dog Resort, you can have your dog play with other dogs or schedule dog training while you’re away, or just let the staff give your dog their minimum attention which is a whole hell of a lot more than any other boarding facility I've ever seen! It's truly a resort!! My dog is going to love it (and may not want to come back home with me). "

"Kinda spendy, but.......worth it! They have so many options for dogs whether it's doggy play time or a combination of private walks. And I don't know what they do different washing dogs but my dog has never smelled so good for so long! Seriously! I have a Malamute/Shepherd mix with lots of hair and probably a lot of sweat under all that hair in the summer. He used to only last 3 weeks or so after a wash and he was stinky. Now, thanks to The Folsom Dog Resort, after one of their baths, my dog is 'zest fully clean' for months afterward. I can still smell the shampoo 2 months later! Amazing! :) "

"I had a tour of the whole facility the first time I dropped by. We had our last dog stay at FDR while we traveled because she needed eye drops (dry eye) every 3 hours during the day. The staff took very good care of her and her eyes were clear when we picked her up. We now have a new family member, Koa, a chocolate lab who at a year old had absolutely no training. We immediately signed him up for the 5 day camp. The trainer did an awesome job with him. Koa did not jump anymore and could do many commands (he is a smart dog but hyper so we were surprised). We didn't think he was the correct dog! The trainer spent time training us also, which has totally helped us understand what Koa's needs are. We keep working with him and he is a happy and well behaved dog. We just got back from today's visit to doggy day care and he is exhausted. He had a fun time with all of the big dogs. "We brought our 10 month-old lab here for the 2 week training program, and I would highly recommend them. We had our consultation with Jason Davis The Dog Guy®, who spent a while getting to know our needs with our dog, as well as informing us about what they would do in training. We were very nervous and sad to leave our dog for two weeks, as my husband and I are very attached to him, but we came out of the consultation without a worry and felt very comfortable leaving him there. In regards to the facility, they were VERY nice. On a side note, something I noticed when taking a tour were the other dogs who were being boarded were frequently brought out in supervised group play sessions, as well as individually for potty breaks and play. As someone who boards their dog for weekends and such, it was comforting to know that the dogs were being taken care of. During the two weeks, we received phone calls, updating us on his progress, health, and what they were working on with our dog. It was nice to hear from them! Prior to having our dog go through the program, he was, as you can imagine any lab puppy would be, a wild beast. He jumped on anyone he met, either on a walk or visitors at our house, and pushing 75 lbs, it needed to be controlled. We tried the knee-to-the-chest maneuver when he would jump and he would just hold on for the ride. It did nothing. Tried the water spray bottle...nothing. He was a very stubborn dog. When it came to walks on a leash, he pulled like a sled dog. The most annoying habit of his was when the front door would open; he would dart out and run across the street, pretending he couldn't hear us yelling at him. I was at the end of my fuse with this dog. It was turning into a love-hate relationship. When we arrived at FDR after the two weeks to pick him up, they worked with us, showing us what he learned, and teaching us how to follow through with the training. The first time I saw him walk out with the trainer, I was shocked. He was a completely different dog. He heeled perfectly, did not pull at all. We went through other things he had learned, such as staying in one place with distractions. He no longer jumps on people when they come over, I enjoy walking him and now walk him off leash as he stays right beside me. He listens off leash, stays in one spot when told, and releases the ball he retrieves (instead of running off with it in another direction). Overall, he is a much more obedient dog. People comment to us when we are out walking or when they come over and say things like, "I wish MY dog was good like yours", and "He's so much better now!" I have to give a special thanks to the trainer. He was wonderful and just has this special gift in working with dogs. Most importantly, he spent a lot of time teaching us how to continue progressing our dog's training. If you are considering putting your dog through training, FDR is the way to go. Worth every penny."

"I am very impressed with Folsom Dog Resort! I found myself in an awkward situation, and Folsom Dog Resort not only helped me out, but they solved my problem and made my life a lot easier. I was in the process of adopting a young, large breed dog from someone who could no longer keep him, and I was also in the middle of a move. The problem was that the home I was moving into was still being renovated, I have other animals, and I was concerned that this transition would be difficult for the new dog. I made a plan and called around. Until I reached Folsom Dog Resort, I was beginning to think that I would not be able to do this--The person who answered the phone was friendly, well informed and went out of her way to help me. I was surprised at the variety of services offered, from boarding to day care and many training packages, including "Dog Day Camp" and a training boot camp. There are a few other facilities around that offer training and boarding, but I was not impressed after actually speaking with each one. At Folsom Dog Resort I was able to customize their services to my needs. I wanted to board the dog for about 5 days, and have a few lessons. I talked to the reservation specialist several times, and she helped me solve some problems acquiring necessary paperwork for vaccines, finding a plan that fit with my budget, etc. All of this on a rush basis, too. I had to solve my problem within 48 hours. I was impressed with the flexibility of services available, enough variety to customize something that worked for me. And, that is only the beginning! The facility is clean, and quiet (compared to others) and the staff very well informed, professional and friendly. All the dog handlers wear khaki shorts/pants, polo shirt and "safari" hats. That is just one example of all the thought that went into the creation of this doggie haven. When I arrived, I was greeted cordially and had a nice conversation with the gal at the front desk. They checked me in and a male staff person was called and took my dog to the kennel area. I did not ask to see the facility, because my dog's room was the first one by the door. It appeared clean, and roomy. Throughout the week I came several times (for lessons, and ultimately to go home) and I was always treated very well. They make sure to take care of those who are picking up and dropping off dogs in the most efficient way they can, using a walkie-talkie, to call kennel staff to the front. Jason Davis The Dog Guy ®, one of the owners was my trainer. He was very informative, patient and wonderful with my dog (and with me). He introduced me to the other trainers as well. He provided me with support, training materials and tools at a very reasonable price. Ultimately the pricing here is not on the cheap side, but neither is the quality of materials or service. Jason Davis The Dog Guy ® made sure all of my questions were answered. The lessons with him were comfortable, and effective for my dog and me. I left feeling confident and happy. "We recently took our very active lab to be boarded while we went out of state. Before he was boarded, he had horrible anxiety and would panic when you left his sight. We couldn't even leave him outside alone. When we picked him up, we were amazed that he no longer had that anxiety. He could be outdoors without us and the panic went away. We then decided to have him professionally trained there due to the impact they had on him just simply boarding him. He had some of the worst issues and the highest energy, he was a chewer, an escape artist, a jumper, and would constantly knock people over with his unruly behavior. When we got him back from the training he was a different dog. He listens!!! We have had NO issues with him. The best of all NO CHEWING! A 10 month old lab that overcame chewing! They are the nicest staff, they answer any question, they will spend hours with you, and they CARE!!! I would recommend this facility to ANYONE! "
